Talented Teens Take the Stage at Rockfest Event

Talented teens show that hard work, team efforts and dedication make a fun and alcohol-free mix.

There are many great events taking place in Wayne that make positive headlines.  This past weekend was just such an event.

An alcohol free event, Rock Fest 12, held Saturday, March 24th at the Wayne YMCA and sponsored by the Wayne Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, proved to be a fun and safe event, with the all-girl band, Scarlet Rush taking home the grand prize.

Local bands from Wayne Valley and Wayne Hills High School, with fans in tow, had the opportunity to compete for the winning prize;$500 worth of studio time at Future Stars Studio in Fairfield, NJ. Beanstudio Mastering also from Wayne, managed the sound for the bands. The other bands participating were Someday Soon, One Week’s Notice, GNGR and Brisk Walk. All of the bands showed fantastic talent.

This event has been providing a great environment for talented teens to demonstrate their talent for 6 years. As always the success of ROCKFEST is due in part to the generous donations we receive to help offset the cost of the evening.  Thank you to Mayor Christopher Vergano, Good Vibrations Music Studio, Neil’s Pizza, DFM Foundation, Spencer Savings Bank and Overtime Sports for their continued support.

A great big thank you goes out to Alliance members and volunteers who are dedicated to keeping teens safe. Additional support from the Wayne Police Department gave the event a real stadium-feel.  A special thanks to Wayne Valley Music Teacher, Nick Stefanacci, who served as judge.
