Readers' Choice: Best Day Care

Let us know where you think the best place to take your children is.

Patch kicked off its “Readers’ Choice” feature last week by asking readers to vote on their favorite Italian Restaurant.

Readers selected as their favorite, but not by much. The eatery than .

Patch will introduce a new category each week for voters to express their opinions about.

This week, we’re asking residents what their favorite day care facility is.

The following places are just the ones we came up with, but if we missed any, please let us, and your neighbors know, in the comments below and we’ll update the poll.

(formerly the YM-YWHA of North Jersey)

Voting closes at 9 a.m. Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments below, and positive reviews on Patch Places. We will announce the winner at noon Friday.

Editors Note: Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

Happy Day Learning Center is the best school in the area. The facility is beautifully maintained, the teachers are top notch, and the children are well cared for and LOVED. An amazing place for kids to grow and learn!

We thoroughly toured all of the above choices and chose TLE. TLE has been a great fit for our children. KinderCare, TLE, Bright Horizons (at Willowbrook) and Goddard School are all basically cut from the same cloth. Centralized corporate structure and curriculum, very nice facilities, staff with educational credentials, security systems for their buildings. Generally these schools are very sunny places meant to look like a friendly elementary school. Our issue with Calvary was that it was extremely small (going back about 2 years) and lacked some of the flexibility (namely longer hours) that the chains can provide. Universally, I sensed that all of these places are filled with women who love children and provide a great environment. I doubt one could go wrong in any of these places. The biggest differentiation I could determine is cost and location. While KC, Goddard, and TLE are pretty identical, they seemed to be expensive in the order listed above. KC is more convenient for people on the north/east side of town, Goddard and TLE moreso for people on the north/west side of town. BH is inconvenient because it is located at Willowbrook but could be excellent for commuters taking the express bus into NYC or those who work in Fairfield/Parsippany area. Calvary is in the middle of town so it probably has best location for Valley folks, but is limiting in terms of curriculum and hours.

Happy Day/Calvary Christian Academy is huge. It has a full size gym. The playground is state of the art, it has rubber mulch. It also has separate classrooms for art, computer and science. They have someone who cooks hot lunch on premises. Aside from the facility, the teachers are caring and loving. What I feel sets Happy Day/Calvary Christian Academy apart from everyone is how big and impressive the school is but how warm and intimate the staff is. I love the family environment.

KinderCare is the best daycare without a question! My 3 year old is starting to READ because of their amazing, dedicated staff and the loving environment that children thrive in. We've been with KinderCare for 7 years now, having put my oldest through school here as well, and the center is truly a part of our family! We love KC!!
