A&P Wins Readers' Choice Poll

has been named the best grocery store in Wayne by readers.

The store received 49 out of 128, 38 percent, of the votes cast. came in second with 35 votes.

and were third and fourth, respectively.

None of the establishments’ listings in Patch Places have any ratings so a winner was chosen strictly on the number of votes cast.

Users had good things to say about other establishments in town, particularly Jack’s Foodtown. They also had positive things to say about Farms View on Black Oak Ridge Road.

Users mentioned in the comments that local residents need to shop at local businesses more, particularly at farmer’s markets.

“The produce is unbeatable by any chain that has to truck in from wherever and I really like to support a local business and especially the only farm left in Wayne. So worth the extra trip,” Wayne’s World said. “For people here who haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and visit a farm or farm stand this summer, particularly our very own . You'll eat like a king and will never go back to supermarkets until you have to.”

Others said that residents should grow their own vegetables and start raising hens in their backyards, .

“Think about being able to go our your back door and being able to harvest your families, breakfast, lunch and dinner. That's fresh. That's healthy,” Resident Kelly commented.
