Deadline is Next Tuesday to Register to Vote in Primaries

Full slate of candidates expected to face off in General Election in November.

Next Tuesday is the last day to register to vote in the Primary Election in June.

The town clerk’s office will be open extended hours from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

There will be no local race in this year’s primary as Republicans and Democrats each submitted four candidates for the four available seats last month.

Incumbent Republican Mayor Chris Vergano will face a challenge in the fall from Democrat Francine Del Vecchio, a teacher at Caldwell College

Incumbent Republicans Joseph Schweighardt, Lonni Miller Ryan and James Jimenez filed to retain their at-large council seats. Democrats Bethania Marranzini-Marmolejo, Victor Alfieri and Gary Marches will run against them.

Independent candidates have until 4 p.m. June 4 to file nominating petitions to be on the November ballot.
