Study Asking Locals for Insight on 'Upper Highlands' Transit

Local government leaders want to know how Upper Highlands residents use public transportation, and how it can be improved.

Passaic County is conducting an Upper Highlands Transit Access Study as part of the ‘Together North Jersey's Local Government Capacity Grant Program.’

The planning initiative partners the county with several other regional outlets, like Rutgers University, in order to create a plan to show how the region could implement a $5 million US Department of Housing and Urban Development grant to improve access to housing, jobs, education, and culture.

According to a release from Rutgers, the study’s primary goal is to identify new transit supportive development opportunities and potential transit services and facilities for downtown Pompton Lakes.

To do that, it is asking locals who live or work in Bloomingdale, Butler, Kinnelon, Oakland, Pequannock, Pompton Lakes, Ringwood, Riverdale, Northern Wayne, Wanaque, and West Milford to complete an online survey about their transit use.

Anyone who completes the survey can enter a free raffle for a chance to win $50 in BID Bucks, which are redeemable at most businesses in the Pompton Lakes downtown area.
