Scott Rumana Urges Federal Government to Address Flooding
Scott Rumana and Alex DeCroce launch an online petition, floodpetition.com.
Assemblyman Scott Rumana and Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce are rolling out an online petition that asks congress to make the Passaic River Basin a presidential priority in the 2013 fiscal year.
The online petition is at www.floodpetition.com.
Rumana said the Passaic Flood Basin should be given high priority because over the past 110 years of recorded flood levels, five of the eight worst floods occurred after 2005.

“The magnitude of the destruction has devastated communities and businesses and caused billions of dollars in losses,” Rumana (District 40) said. “Our petition drive is intended to call attention to this chronic problem and urge a focused effort by the federal government to solve this predicament now.”
DeCroce (R-Morris and Passaic) said they hope to help homeowners who have repeatedly rebuilt their homes.

“People who have repeatedly rebuilt their lives and homes are desperate for a solution and shouldn’t have to worry if they will lose everything each time it rains,” he said.
DeCroce said he hopes the online petition conveys a sense of urgency.
“The online petition is an opportunity for people throughout the state and nation to let the president know this is a problem that has gone on far too long and needs Washington’s immediate attention,” DeCroce added.
