Rumana Bill Streamlining Licensing Procedures Passes Assembly Committee

Bil would cut through the red tape needed for accountants, nurses, and locksmiths to obtain professional licenses.

Nurses, locksmiths and accountants might not have to wade through as much red tape to obtain a professional license if a bill sponsored by Assemblyman Scott Rumana becomes law.

Legislation streamlining the state’s licensing procedures was approved Monday by the Assembly Regulatory Oversight and Gaming Committee.

The bill would allow for quicker licensing for certain professionals, including  nurses, locksmiths, and accountants. Individuals need to have a clean record, prove they are insured and provide documentation proving their experience, education and examination results.

This will help our efforts to attract jobs to New Jersey,” Rumana said in a statement. “Licensed professionals often operate the kinds of small businesses we need to continue the positive momentum of New Jersey’s economy.”

The Red Tape Commission recommended the legislation. The Commission is charged with eliminating unnecessary and duplicative laws that hinder New Jersey businesses and taxpayers. Rumana, who represents the state’s 40th Legislative District, serves on the commission.
