Candidates Debate Moved to Wayne Valley High School

Event will not be broadcast live on channel 77.

The candidates debate scheduled for Thursday night has been moved to .

The debate was originally scheduled to take place in the council chamber at the municipal complex but the Wayne Board of Education is scheduled to hold its regular meeting in the chamber that night so the venue was changed.

The League of Women Voters of Wayne Township (LWV) was in charge of obtaining the venue for the debate.

The event was to be broadcast live on cable channel 77. The show will still be broadcast on the channel, but only if someone records it and submits it to the township to broadcast, said Tim Collins, who oversees channel 77 for the township.

The LWV is sponsoring the debate. Wayne Valley High School is located at 551 Valley Road.

The debate will begin at 7 p.m. with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Ward candidates debating; candidates for the 4th, 5th, 6th Wards, and an at-large seat will debate beginning at 8 p.m., said Becky Yates, a board member of the LWV of Wayne Township.

Democrat Chris McIntire is running unopposed in the 5th Ward.
