A William Paterson University student is accused of trading child porn with others from his computer on campus, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said.
Andrew Maggs, 19, of Wall, was arrested Monday morning and charged with possession of child pornography.
Berdnik’s office received a complaint Oct. 22 that child
pornography was being transferred online and originated from the university's campus.
Maggs admitted to “trading” child pornography with people online when sheriff’s personnel questioned him, Berdnik said.
Maggs' laptop computer was seized when he was arrested and
the investigation “remains active" with additional charges possible pending further developments, Berdnik said.
Maggs was charged with possession of child pornography. He was released on his own recognizance pending his first appearance in court.
