Wayne Woman Hurt in Collision With Tractor Trailer

Elissa Betterbid suffered internal injuries when alleged drunken driver lost control of truck and struck her car in New York, according to report.

A Wayne woman suffered serious injuries Monday night in a collision with a tractor trailer whose driver was allegedly drunk and lost control of the rig in Newburgh, N.Y., recordonline.com reported.

New York state Police Sgt. Vladimir Horrego told the website a tractor trailer rig going west on Interstate 84 veered out of control, crossed the median and collided head-on with a Subaru driven by Elissa Betterbid, 39, of Wayne at 9:30 p.m.

Betterbid was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie with head, leg, and internal injuries, the website reported.

The driver of the tractor-trailer James Tiedeken, 49, was charged with vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
