Wayne Man Driver in Fatal Route 3 Accident, Report Says

UPDATE: The man had been driving with a suspended license, report said.

A Wayne man was driving a car that struck and killed a pedestrian on Route 3 in Clifton Monday morning, according to a fios1news.com report.

According to the report, the unidentified pedestrian was hit in the westbound lane of the highway between Passaic and Bloomfield Avenues at about 3 a.m. Monday. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, it said.

A 25-year-old Wayne man was driving the 2000 Toyota that hit the victim, the report said.

According to NorthJersey.com, the Wayne man was driving with a suspended license at the time of the accident, and has been charged with driving with a suspended license and causing death, a third-degree crime.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call the Clifton Police at 973-470-5911 or the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office at 973-881-4800.
