State Trooper Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident

Accident delayed traffic on Route 23 North.

A New Jersey state trooper was taken to the hospital with leg and back pain following a motor vehicle accident on Route 23 North Sunday night, police said.
The trooper was stopped on the side of the road at about 8:30 p.m. when the driver of a silver Volkswagen lost control of the vehicle, veered to the side of the road and struck the left side of the trooper's car, said state police Sgt. Brian Polite. 
The trooper was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson with back and leg pain, Polite said. 
Polite did not disclose further information. The accident is still under investigation. The accident delayed traffic on Route 23 North for hours.
