Shooting Victim 'Always Made People Laugh,' Friends Say

Friends of Isaac Rinas take to Twitter to express their condolences.

Isaac Rinas’ friends said he was funny, full of life, and was looking forward to joining the Coast Guard after high school.

Rinas was shot and killed in Paterson hours after receiving his high school diploma Wednesday night.

“He always made people laugh, even his teachers,” said Christie Ludwig, one of Rinas’ friends. “He was funny but he was caring too. He always listened to people’s problems and was there for them.”

Ludwig said Rinas was looking forward to serving in the Coast Guard after graduation.

(Name Removed) was a lifelong friend of Rinas.

“He always had a unique perspective on things and had the ability to make people smile,” Monteyne said. “I was truly fortunate to have known him and to have shared memories with him that will never be forgotten.”

People who knew Rinas posted pictures and memories of him on Twitter after news of his death spread. They used the hashtag #RIPIsaac

“To one of the best friends I’ve ever had. I’m going to miss you a lot man you will never be forgotten,” user p_benson posted.

“Sad to see someone who lives down the street from me my whole life go so soon as such as young age,” user Michael Ella posted.
