Armored Truck Crash Displaces Apartment Complex's Residents

Truck crashes into support column at Mountain View Crossing apartment after driver swerved to avoid vehicle that cut him off, police said.

A dozen units in the Mountain View Crossing apartment complex had to be evacuated after an armored truck crashed into the bottom of the building Sunday morning, police reported.

Residents of three units directly above the support column have been displaced.

The driver of an armored truck swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle that cut him off on Route 23 North, Wayne Police Lt. Keith O’Sullivan told NorthJersey.com. The truck them left the roadway, crossed over a service road, and struck the bottom of the complex, hitting a support column, “heavily” damaging it.

The driver and passenger were pinned inside the vehicle. The Wayne Fire Department extricated them and they were taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson.
