Police Union Warns of Fake Telemarketers

Wayne Policemen's Benevolent Association said it does not solicit donations over the phone.

The Wayne Policemen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) is warning residents not to donate money to telemarketers claiming to represent the union.

The PBA posted on Twitter and Facebook said residents and business owners have received calls from the Wayne Policemen’s Association, soliciting donations.

The PBA does not solicit for donations by phone, the post said.

Suspicious phone calls should be reported to the Wayne Police Department at 973-694-0600 or to the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs at 800-242-5846.
