Pedestrian Struck on Route 46 Still Not Identified

Man struck by a car while trying to cross highway on Saturday.

The man struck by a car while crossing Route 46 over the weekend has still not been identified, said.

Police are still trying to identify the man, Det./Capt. James Clarke said Monday.

The man was in critical condition after Andriy Royik  near Fairfield Road on Saturday. The accident occurred near Fairfield Road at about 9 p.m.

The man was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in critical condition. An update on his condition was not available Monday from St. Joseph's. Royik was not injured in the crash, police said.

Police described the pedestrian as being between 55 and 65 years old, between 5-foot-9 to 6-feet-tall with a thin build.

The Wayne Police Traffic Bureau and Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the accident.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information on the pedestrian’s identity should contact the Wayne Police Traffic Bureau at 973-633-3520.
