Slideshow of Alleged Burglary Suspect Released

Man sought in connection with burglary on Finley Lane earlier this month.

Police have released a slideshow of an individual they are trying to identify who was on Finley Lane at the time a home on that street was burglarized April 20.

A rear sliding glass door was shattered at the residence, said Detective Capt. James Clarke. The master bedroom was ransacked and an unknown amount of jewelry was stolen.

Police released the slide show on YouTube. It shows a man waking through the woods at about 8 p.m. and again at about 9 p.m. that evening. The man appears to be wearing a dark-colored jacket with a white New York Yankees logo and a dark-colored hat. (Color values in the video are reversed.)

“We’re looking for an attempt to identify this individual so we can further the investigation,” Clarke said. “He is predominately going into single-family homes.”

Police said five residences off of Garside Avenue have been burglarized since September. Homes on Almadera Drive, Diane Court, Finley Lane, and Towsen Road have been hit during weekends.

Residents living in that neighborhood have said they don’t feel safe since the burglaries have occurred.

The video also shows the alleged individual riding a bicycle.

Clarke said the man entered the area through the Ridge Rise townhouses and that the bicycle has been left outside near Central Avenue. An attempted burglary was reported on Birch Lane on March 24 at about 7:30 p.m. Police said the man is “believed to be a suspect” in that incident.

Three burglaries also occurred at apartments on Valley Road last month.

This is not the first time police have used the Internet to try and identify someone.

Police released a video on YouTube last year of two individuals sought in connection with burglarizes on Oxbow Place.

The individuals, Ahmet Islami and Marjorie Alva, were arrested and charged with burglary, theft, and receiving stolen property.

Anyone with information related to these burglaries or who can help identify the individuals in the slideshow should contact Wayne police detectives at 973-633-3530.
