Police Release Description of Alleged Jewelry Thief

Man allegedly stole $10,000 of jewelry from Route 46 store Friday night.

Police have released a photograph of the man believed to have stolen jewelry from The Diamond Exchange Friday night.

The man reportedly stole white and gold chains and crosses valued at $10,000 a notice issued by the Wayne Police Department states.

The man examined the jewelry as if he was going to purchase it and then ran out of the store with it, police said.

The man fled the scene in a 1997-98 silver Mercedes four-door with only a rear license plate, the notice said.

One of the chains is approximately 20 inches long, with white and yellow gold boxes with the word “Italy” on the lock.

Police described the man as having light black skin, 30 to 40 years old, six feet inches tall, and weighing 250 pounds. The man had two large scars bellows his neck between his collarbones.
