Jewelry was reportedly taken from three Wayne homes during burglaries this past week, Wayne police reported.
Police found a jewelry box opened in the closet of a Diane Court home Sunday, an incident report states. An iPad also was reported missing, and a desk in an office was ransacked, the report states. New Jersey Devils hockey jerseys were reportedly taken from a bedroom.
Police found shoe prints in mud outside and inside the home made from circular patterns, similar to the ones found on Nike Shox sneakers, and found a pry mark on the bottom part of an open window on the first floor, an incident report states.
The residents of the house were out of town when the burglary allegedly occurred, according to the report.
Jewelry was reported missing from a burglarized Towsen Road home on Saturday.
The point of entry appeared to be through a bathroom window on the back of the house, an incident report states. Police found pry marks on it, and it appeared to be forced open.
A neighbor reported seeing a man walking and smoking a cigarette on the street between 6 and 6:30 p.m. the night before but reported seeing no one out of the ordinary on the street that night the burglary occurred, an incident report states.
Several empty jewelry boxes were found in a Bourbon Street house on Wednesday, police reported. The front door had been kicked in, an incident report states.
A neighbor reported seeing a red Kia four-door parked on the street on Feb. 17. The neighbor said the unidentified occupant exited the vehicle and rang her doorbell. The individual reportedly also went door to door on the street before driving away.
Police also investigated a possible burglary attempt at an Almadera Drive home Friday. Police found pry marks under a window on the home but it does not appear anyone entered the house, a report states.
