Officer Frank Sonnema said he responded, with Wayne Fire Co. No. 1, to Wilson Avenue on a report of sparking wires Feb. 19. Sonnema reported that he found that part of the top of a tree had broken off at 15 Wilson Ave., taking wires down and breaking a utility pole. Sonnema reported that part of the tree was completely across the road and power was out. Sonnema said that wires were pulled from two houses on Wilson Avenue when the tree fell, damaging the house. A crew from PSE&G arrived at about 10 p.m., the officer said, removing the tree from the road. The road remained closed until PSE&G removed the downed wires.

During last week's snowfall, Officer Elliot Lyons responded to Central Avenue to assist the Haledon Police Department in removing a tractor-trailer stuck on the road. Lyons said he observed several disabled vehicles in front of and behind the tractor-trailer. Lyons said he and officer Oliveira assisted the disabled vehicles back down the hill and closed down the roadway at both ends to give the tractor-trailer room to get up the hill. Lyons said in his report that Passaic County snowplow trucks arrived and salted and plowed the roadway, allowing the tractor-trailer to move and clear the roadway.
