Paterson Woman Severely Injured in Car Crash, Cops Say

Crash occurred on Route 23 North Thursday night.

A Paterson woman was severely injured in a motor vehicle crash on Route 23 at 10:20 p.m. Thursday night, Wayne Police said in a press release.

Gabriela Ramirez Hernandez, 24, of Paterson, was driving on Route 23 North when she lost control of her Honda Civic and struck the center median about 1,000 feet south of the Route 202 exit ramp, said Sgt. Joseph Duncan.

Hernandez suffered severe injuries to her legs and feet; she was unconscious when police arrived at the scene, Duncan said.

The Wayne First Aid Squad transported Hernandez to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson in stable condition, Duncan said.

The Wayne Police Traffic Bureau and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the crash.
