Paterson Man Eyed In String Of North Jersey Burglaries

Police allegedly find Corey Porcelli, 27, hiding behind furniture store after botched break in.

have arrested a man who is suspected in numerous burglaries in Passaic, Bergen and Morris counties in recent weeks.

Corey L. Porcelli, 27, was arrested after police found him hiding in a storage area behind the furniture store on Black Oak Ridge Road after receiving a call that a a home on Sheffield Road had been broken into and the burglar had fled on foot, Detective Capt. James Clarke said.

A male resident who was home at the time of the alleged break-in reported that he opened his garage door after hearing glass break, which caused the man to flee, Clarke said.

The resident followed the man to Black Oak Ridge Road and Pompton Plains Crossroads, Clarke said.

Police converged on the area and began to search, Clarke said. After more than an hour of searching, officer Darren Williams discovered Porcelli, of Paterson, hiding behind the store, Clarke said.

Porcelli was arrested and charged with burglary and was transported to the Passaic County jail on $10,000 bail, Clarke said.

Porcelli is also wanted for or a suspect in numerous other burglaries in Bloomingdale, Allendale, Ringwood, West Milford, Roxbury, Jefferson, Mt. Arlington, and Wanaque.
