Prostitution Arrest Result of Ongoing Probe in Wayne

Anonymous tip leads to charges Thursday night for Gold Spa employee.

An employee of Gold Spa was charged with engaging in prostitution Thursday night, police said.

“We can confirm that an arrest was made there Thursday night and that the person who was arrested is not the owner of the establishment,” Det./Sgt. James Celentano said.

The charge came as a result of an “ongoing undercover investigation” police conducted at the business, according to Celentano, who is in charge of the police department’s special operations and narcotics unit.

“We acted on an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen,” Celentano said. “It’s been an ongoing investigation we’ve been conducting with our detectives for several weeks.”

Celentano declined further comment. The spa's owner was not available for comment. The spa is located at 210 Hamburg Turnpike.

It is the second arrest involving prostitution charges authorities have made in Wayne this month.

Six women were charged with solicitation of prostitution after the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sweep of Passaic County hotels. Five of the women were found at the Kings Inn and the FairBridge Inn.
