Motorcyclist Pinned Under Bus Awarded $2.5M in Settlement

Keith Nystrom was weaving in and out of traffic on his motorcycle in the Lincoln Tunnel when he became pinned under a NJ Transit bus.

A Wayne man has been awarded a $2.5 million settlement more than two years after he was pinned under an NJ Transit bus in the Lincoln Tunnel.

Keith Nystrom was weaving through traffic in the tunnel’s center tube and cut off an NJ Transit bus around 7:30 p.m., which was rear-ended by another bus. Nystrom was pulled underneath the front of the bus and pinned against the road. Nystrom reportedly broke both legs and an arm. The accident backed up traffic for hours.

Nystrom reportedly underwent four surgeries, can’t use his left hand, and has limited use of his left arm due to nerve damage, the website reported.

NJ Transit’s board of directors must approve the settlement, NorthJersey.com reported. That is expected to happen within 45 days, Nystrom’s lawyer, Daniel Hurley said.
