Memorial Service for Rinas is Tuesday

The family will accept visitors at Vander May Wayne Funeral Home Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.

A celebration of Isaac Rinas’ life will be held at Vander May Wayne Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10 a.m., an obituary on the funeral home’s website states.

Rinas was shot and killed hours after graduating from Wayne Valley High School Wednesday. He and “another Wayne resident” were in a car on Fair Street in Paterson when a man entered the back seat of the vehicle and produced a handgun. Rinas was shot in the neck, authorities said.

Casey Cole, 18, of Wayne, a classmate of Rinas’, has been charged with felony murder, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with Rinas’ murder, authorities said.

A scholarship fund is being established in Rinas’s memory, the obituary states.

The obituary describes Rinas as “thrilled to wear that cap and gown on Wednesday evening.' "

“He was looking forward to his future, saying to his mom on graduation night: ‘now I can live my life.’ ”

He was born in Romania. Meredith and David Rinas adopted him when he was 2.

Rinas played Wolfpack football on the Wayne Police Athletic League’s team and at Wayne Valley.

Rinas enjoyed attending the annual neighborhood camping trip where he would shoot skeet, hike, and swim in the Delaware River.

Rinas’s friends described him as being funny, caring, and always willing to listen to other people’s problems and help them.

Visitation with the family will be held at Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, in Wayne on Monday, July 1 from 4 to 8 p.m.
