Chilean Visitor Struck, Killed by Train

Man was on the bridge over the Passaic River near Hobson Avenue.

A Chilean man was killed Tuesday night when he was struck by a NJ Transit train on a bridge over the Passaic River.

Nelson Felipe Guerra Concha, 35, was in New Jersey visiting family in Little Falls, said Nancy Synder, a spokesperson for NJ Transit. 

Concha was struck shortly before 7 p.m. by a train on the Montclair-Booton line. The bridge is located near Hobson Avenue.

Concha was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:10 p.m., Wayne Police Lt. Paul Dring reported in a news release.

Service was temporarily suspended on the Montclair-Boonton line after the accident.

The NJ Transit Police Department, with the assistance of the Wayne Police Department, is investigating the incident, Dring said.
