Police: Man Killed by NJ Transit Bus

Authorities working to identify victim.

A man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit bus at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Wayne Police Capt. Laurence Martin said police are in the process of identifying the victim, who did not have any identification on him at the time of the incident.

The Wayne Police Traffic Bureau said the man is described as being Hispanic or Arabic, approximately 50 to 60 years old, and between 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall.

The bus involved in the crash was on the 191 line, which runs to and from Willowbrook Mall and the Port Authority Transit Terminal in New York City, said Courtney Carroll, an NJ Transit spokesperson.

Carroll said the bus driver will be questioned by NJ Transit and the Wayne Police Department. Carroll declined further comment.

The Wayne Police Traffic Bureau and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the crash.
