Knifepoint Gas Station Robber Seen Fleeing on Video

Man threatened Valley Road attendant's life, made off with $35.

The Exxon gas station at 540 Valley Road was robbed Sunday night at knifepoint, said.

Officer Ryan Vallaro said a gas station attendant observed a man pacing in front of the convenience store at about 8 p.m.

The man then walked to the restroom and tried to open the door, the attendant told police. When the attendant walked over to help, the man put a knife to the attendant’s throat, pushed him against the building, and repeatedly said to the attendant: “Give me your money or I’ll kill you,” Vallaro’s report states.

The attendant gave the man $35 out of his pocket, police said. The man then fled to the parking lot at 500 Valley Road, police said. The attendant then heard a car door close, police said.

The station’s owner responded to the location and helped police retrieve video surveillance of the man, the report states.

When the footage was enhanced another employee told police he recognized the robber from earlier in the day, police said. The man went into the convenience store at approximately 2 p.m., purchased a cigar, and then drove off in a black, two-door Honda Civic, the report states.

The building at 500 Valley Road also has surveillance cameras; Det. Ron Antonucci is attempting to retrieve footage from the property and continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Wayne Police Department Detective Bureau at 973-694-0600.
