Man Charged with Intent to Distribute Heroin

Police said they pulled a vehicle over for an obstructed license plate, found dozens of bags of narcotic.

A 21-year-old Oakland resident was arrested Saturday afternoon, police said, after dozens of small glassine bags of suspected heroin were found in his vehicle after a traffic stop.

Officer Vincent Ricciardelli decided to stop a Ford Explorer traveling west on Hamburg Turnpike because the SUV's license plate was obstructed, Police Capt. James Clarke said.

The driver, Nickolaus Beck, 21, was in possession of 48 small glassine bags of suspected heroin, Clarke said, noting that each bag was stamped with the words “Karate Kid.” Clarke said police also found 12 empty glassine bags in Beck's pocket.

Clarke said Beck was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court April 21.
