Totowa Man Charged With Heroin Possession

Police report finding heroin on man after he attempted to steal earrings from retailer.

A Totowa resident was charged with shoplifting and possession heroin after he attempted to steal earrings from Lord & Taylor in the Monday, according to a police report on the incident.

Officer Joseph Rooney responded to the store due to an alleged shoplifter being detailed by store security.

Rooney reported that while searching Nicholas Placentino, security officer Gary Joseph found nine pairs of earrings valued at $680, and a bundle of small bags stamped “top secret," each containing a white powdery substance believed to be heroin.

Rooney reported that Placentino, 25, was transported to and charged with shoplifting and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

The report states that Placentino was released and is scheduled to appear in Wayne Municipal Court on May 3.
