Man Charged with Being Under the Influence of PCP After Outburst in Street

It took multiple police officers to restrain 28-year-old.

A Belleville man was charged with being under the influence of PCP and disorderly conduct after police found him screaming obscenities in his underwear in the street Saturday night, a report released by states. 

Police responded to a call of a suspicious person with his pants around his ankles screaming obscenities in the vicinity of Matthew Road and French Hills Road a little after 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the report.

Police reported that the man, who was later identified as Marco Iannitelli, 28, of Belleville, was covered in sweat and urine, smelled of feces, and kept screaming obscenities.

Police handcuffed Iannitelli's legs together because he was thrashing on the pavement, causing bodily harm to himself, officers reported.  

Iannitelli was transported to Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains where he was restrained on a bed, the report states.

Medical personnel attempted to sedate Iannitelli, who tried repeatedly to bite the officers present after a mask was put over his mouth and he defecated on the bed, police said in the report. Iannitelli threatened to kill one of the officers and a doctor, the report states.

Iannitelli was given a sedative and initally calmed down, but had to be sedated again, the report states.

Iannitelli awoke an hour later, stating he had no idea where he was or how he got there, police reported.

A large amount of white powder in a clear plastic bag was found in Iannitelli's vehicle, which was in the vicinity of where police found Iannitelli, police reported.

Police also found more than $1,100 in an envelope Iannitelli had in his possession, the report states.

Iannitelli was also charged with resisting arrest; he was released pending a court date.
