Man Charged with Attempted Murder Pleads Not Guilty

A Wayne man has plead not guilty to attempted murder in the shooting a Paterson resident on Nov. 15, NorthJersey.com reported.

Brian Curry, 24, was arrested last week after the Vernon and Paterson police departments conducted a joint attempted murder and narcotics investigation.

Curry, of Lake Drive East, was arraigned in state court on Wednesday on charges of illegally possessing a .38-caliber handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, the website reported. He was being held at the Passaic County Jail on $750,000 bail Wednesday.

A Paterson resident told authorities a vehicle pulled up next to him on the street Nov. 15 and an individual in the vehicle demanded the victim’s personal property. The victim, Akeem Wilder, was shot in the arm, the website reported.

Curry was found at a Highland Lakes home last week during the course of the investigation. Police seized 97 bags of heroin, drug paraphernalia and packaging materials at the house, authorities said.

Paterson police also charged Curry with possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute, illegal possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
