Limo Driver Charged in 'Underage' Sex Chat
61-year-old worked for limo service in Wayne.
A 61-year-old Warren County man was charged Monday with attempted endangering the welfare of a child, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.
Eric Schmidt, who works for Harding Limo Service in Wayne, was charged after a five-month long investigation in which Schmidt reportedly engaged in “sexually explicit conversations” with a female he believed to be 14-years-old, Molinelli said in a statement.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit conducted the investigation. The charge is a third-degree offense, which carries up to five years in prison.

Schmidt, who lives in Phillipsburg, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Bergen County. Bail was set at $25,000 with no 10 percent option.
Maureen Parenta, public information officer with Molinelli’s office, did not return messages seeking comment. The Tenafly Police Department assisted with the investigation.
