Update: Juvenile Dies From Injuries Suffered In Crash
Accident occurred on Route 46 East at about 1:15 a.m. Thursday.
A juvenile who was struck by a car on Route 46 early Thursday morning has died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash,NorthJersey.com is reporting.
Wayne Police Sgt. Joseph Duncan said that a 2005 Chevrolet van driven by Thomas Hines, 68, of Passaic, was traveling on Route 46 East at 1:15 a.m. when he struck a juvenile.
The juvenile was rendered unconscious, Duncan said. The Wayne First Aid Squad transported the individual to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, Duncan said.

The juvenile was listed in critical condition; Hines was not injured in the crash, Duncan said.
The Wayne Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the crash.

Detective Capt. James Clarke would not comment on the accident. Lt. Paul Dring, commander of the Wayne Police Department's Traffic Bureau couldn't be reached for comment. A representative from the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office could not be reached for comment.
