Junior Police Academy is June 27 through 30

Attendees will learn what it is like to be a police officer.

The Wayne Police Department will hold its annual Junior Police Academy from June 27 to 30. 

The weeklong curriculum will include various presentations from guest law enforcement agencies, hands-on practices, and physical training to give students an idea of what is involved in becoming a police officer.

Some of the agencies participating in this year’s program include the Passaic County Police Academy,Wayne Memorial First Aid Squad, Wayne Volunteer Fire Department, and the Wanaque Police K-9 Unit.

The cost is $35 to attend. Each day will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3 p.m..

Enrollment for the Academy will be restricted to 80 recruits. All applicants must be Wayne residents between the ages of 10 and 12. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Any applications received after the first 80 will be placed on a waiting list. If any of the first 80 applicants decide not to participate, the waiting list will then be used to fill any openings. The waiting list will also function on a first come, first served basis.
