Homes Ransacked in Park Lane Burglaries, Cops Say

are investigating two alleged home burglaries on Park Lane this week where laptops and other electronic devices appear to have been stolen.

On Thursday, police said two Toshiba laptops, an iPad 3, a Panasonic video camera and a Samsung computer bag, all valued at a total of more than $7,000 were reported stolen from a residence on the street. A female resident who had returned home around 10:30 p.m. said she heard a back door slam shut while she was placing items on the counter after entering from the front door of the home. Her husband told police the back door may have been unlocked, but no items initially appeared to be missing from the home.

However, about an hour later, the residents contacted police again to report the items missing. In addition to the electronics, police said work documents were reportedly missing as well.

As police searched the property, they found the Samsung bag, computers and other items on the ground outside. Police believe a person or persons may have dropped the items while attempting to run from the home. The items were returned to the residents and police are continuing to investigate the incident.

On Tuesday, another Park Lane resident reported a Macbook, two Dell computers and two pieces of jewelry valued at $200 each stolen. The computers were worth over $4,000 combined.

Police said the resident stated they left their home around 9:15 a.m. and when they returned at 10:45 a.m., they noticed the back door kicked in. Police said a person or persons appeared to have gained entry by prying or using their shoulder to break the door. All of the bedrooms of the home appeared to be ransacked and a resident reported her jewelry box to be dumped over on top of her bed, police said.
