UPDATE: Massive Berkeley Brush Fire Nearly…

Four More Burglaries Reported, More Jewelry Taken

Entry was gained through an unlocked front window in one instance. Police asking residents to immediately report anything suspicious.

Four more burglaries occurred in town between Monday morning and early Wednesday morning, said.

That brings the total number of burglaries that occurred in recent weeks to 19. A dozen burglaries  between April 25 and May 30. Three more  between May 31 and June 3.

A home on French Hill Road was broken into between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., on Monday, Detective Capt. James Clarke said. An unknown amount of property was taken from the residence. Entry appeared to be gained through an unlocked front window.

A house on Pancake Hollow Drive was burglarized between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, Clarke said. It is unknown if anything was removed from the residence because the inside of the home was in disrepair.

A neighbor observed a late-model, four-door BMW with two occupants inside parked in front of the house at about 6:30 p.m. but did not report it to police, Clarke said.

Jewelry and a jewelry box were taken from a residence on Irene Place between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Clarke said. Entry was made through an unlocked door on the back of the house.

Clarke said someone who entered the house might have worn latex gloves.

A laptop, cell phone, and $70 was taken from a house on Indian Road between 1:45 and 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Clarke said. Entry was made through an unlocked sliding glass door on the back of the house. An alarm in the house was not armed.

“Every resource we have that is not committed to something is looking at this,” Clarke said.

Police continue to work with the Bergen, Passaic, and Morris County Prosecutor’s Officers to investigate these incidents.

Police are urging people to report anything suspicious immediately. The police department can be reached at 973-633-0600.

Its about time that WPD finally is asking for assistance from neighboring towns and the Sheriff's dept. Their ego problem has taken its toll on the residents of Wayne for long enough. This chief refuses to broadcast on spen 1 when things get out of control in town, now with this incident dispatch did the right thing and called for help.

That's way out of line Aiming.

Kris Tee, who was it that CAUGHT the felon's?? Was it NOT a Wayne Policeman? These policemen do their jobs day in and day out without ANY hesitation. Instead os Whining maybe YOU should give credit, where credit is due? This officer approached the car ALONE at 2:30am. Not knowing what he would find. He did his job and did it well...Many can complain but ONLY a few can perform...

Mike - the PCSD is considered lower in the pecking order than a local town cop? It seems redundant to me to have all of these police departments to begin with. Seems like cooperation between the towns in the county is pretty good when the situation warrants.

Very VERY wel put Michael Carrebraro
KrisTee June 08, 2012 at 09:39 PM
I am not in LE, I am not a County employee. If you have anything bad to say about the county cops go down to the Marshall street jail and say it. I'm mad about the fact that this have been going on for so long and nothing was done until recently. As other's have said, 140K is a lot of money and they should act as being paid such monies. Anyone can learn about police procedure in NJ by simply using Google and of course going to court and listening. Eye wide shut, the officer did his job but there is one major difference, he was trained at PPA, not the county, he cut his teeth on the streets of Paterson, big difference. Michael, I have never wanted to be WPD and I can well make above thier "cut". No one has ever accused me of being PCSD, If they have I just don't know about it. There should be more cooperation between LE in the neighboring towns and at the county level as in Bergen Cnty.
KrisTee June 08, 2012 at 09:59 PM
One more thing Michael, you do realize that these burglaries have been going on for at least 6 months? Seriously you can't just sit there and not take it to heart that something is wrong with that? I'm glad that you agree there should be more cooperation between LE in the towns and county level. Its been long overdue.

They now make LED lights for outside use. They are a bit expensive, but maybe worth the investment. Also solar lights might help. Maybe it is time for every neighborhood to start a neighborhood watch. http://www.usaonwatch.org/

KrisTee, You are not in "LE" and the officer went to "PPA" and "Cut his teeth" you know the "Marshall Street Jail", the chief won't broadcast on "Spen 1", you know the salaries of the officers and their so called "lack of cooperation" with other towns. Its amazing the type of police lingo and information you can apparently get from Google. Why don't you print your real name and we will ask the WPD to look up your name on the list of people who submitted applications (and didn't make it). so the real name of KrisTee is _________________________________ or are you scared the "do nothing over paid Wayne cops" will leave their "parked location at Dunkin Donuts" and come visit you ?? If everything you say is true about the WPD you have nothing to worry about.

Liz this was the same night that they caught 2 of the 4 people. Does this mean there is more than 1 crew out there with the same MO? If your neighbor had an attempted break in at 2am , this was about the same time the police was looking for the other people. This is very scary to think that there are different crews breaking in houses that people are sleeping in! I felt somewhat safe knowing that they caught some people, but after this post, no way! This is not over, not even close if I'm getting the timeline down straight.
KrisTee June 09, 2012 at 08:39 AM
Michael, just read other posts here and you can learn so much, I'm not the only one talking about salary's of the dept. As for officer VR, maybe I know him, maybe not. Non of my "lingo" is sequestered to just LE. Other info is public knowledge or all you have to do is ask someone from WPD there are some officers that freely talk about what goes on in the department.
Nose Wayne June 09, 2012 at 12:53 PM
Kris, Wayne is not the only town having this problem. Numerous towns in Bergen and Passaic Counties have been hit by what they think is several groups of robbers doing this latest spree. They have been renting cars with out of state plates. The recent suspects had Maryland plates and two are still on th loose.Be aware of your surroundings.SEE SOMETHING,SAY SOMETHING!!! CALL THE POLICE

Well put Michael, but keep in mind "empty barrels make the MOST noise.. Everyone is a critic but ONLY a few can do the job...

I feel that with very few JOBS available , more of these robberies will occur. What we need is a new administration , with news ideas for jobs , less character assassination, and class war politics!

Question why is it that when a criminal is sought the papers and other media are SO RELUCTANT to mention race ......Preferring to Skirt the issue with descriptions like, he was about 5'5" , i65lbs wearing a dark cap ........SUCH NONSENSE ......the cops hate to admit in public .BUT PROFILING WORKS!
Emanon June 11, 2012 at 12:10 PM
Fort Lee is a great town with a large highly Intelligent Asian population. The citizens are busy working , and studying to better themselves and their families........LOW LIVES are easily spotted in that community.
Nose Wayne June 11, 2012 at 12:56 PM
Emanon, The HIGH LIVES are spotted more easily than the LOWS.
KrisTee June 11, 2012 at 03:00 PM
I was thinking the same thing but in the same magnitude that Wayne has been hit.
Emanon June 11, 2012 at 06:02 PM
Question were any of the THUGS involved wearing Hoodies and carrying Skittles?
KrisTee June 14, 2012 at 01:18 AM
Real intelligent statement. If I patrolled Wayne I would be going nuts trying to find these people responsible. You can sit down and continue typing your remarks that make no sense, I'll still attend council meetings and speak to officers on what to do.
