Fire Inspector Due In Court Thursday On ATV Theft Charges

Scott Kooreman due in municipal court Thursday

A 25-year Wayne volunteer firefighter is due in Thursday afternoon on charges that he stole three all-terrain vehicles from the Top Soil Depot site on Pompton Plains Crossroads.

Scott Kooreman, a Wayne resident, has been charged with third-degree theft after he stole the vehicles from the property Jan. 26, a municipal court summons states. Kooreman was arrested Friday.

Kooreman’s attorney Joseph Afflito Sr., said that he believes the “incident to be the result of misinformation and miscommunication between several individuals and hopefully that will be brought to light in court.”

Afflito declined further comment. Kooreman declined comment.

The vehicles belong to Alan Rombough Sr., the embattled owner of . Rombough, who owns the business with his son Alan Rombough Jr., has been in court several times regarding polluted soil being dumped and stored on the site for years.
