Fire Evacuates Wayne J.C. Penney

Fire sparked in the Wayne Towne Center store's cardboard compactor, report said.

A J.C. Penney store in Wayne was evacuated Tuesday after a fire broke out on the second floor, NorthJersey.com reported.

According to the report, the fire sparked in a cardboard compactor in the Wayne Towne Center store. Firefighters spent about 15 minutes Tuesday afternoon putting out the fire, the report said.

The cause of the fire is unknown, it said.

The J.C. Penney is the only building that will remain when the Towne Center is redeveloped, NorthJersey.com reported.
