Evidence Against Ex-Wayne Hills Player Needs More Review

A brief hearing for a former Wayne Hills football player accused of disorderly conduct was held in municipal court Tuesday.

Prosecutor Raymond Vivino said he needed time to review evidence and discuss the matter with the police officer who issued the summons to  “determine the facts” and “how we’re going to proceed.”

Andrew Monaghan, his attorney Kalman Geist, and Vivino were expected to have a conference afterward to determine if a trial would be held or not. Geist mentioned wanting to have the conference Tuesday afternoon after the hearing, but it is unknown whether one took place or not.

The attorneys were not immediately available afterward.

Monaghan was charged with disorderly conduct after police said he interfered with an officer who was investigating a noise complaint at a party in July. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Monaghan allegedly encouraged an individual the officer was speaking with to not give the officer his name. He also urged him to shut the door on the officer.

Monaghan was warned three times to stop and was arrested after the third time, Chief John Reardon previously said.

Monaghan is one of the nine Wayne Hills football players charged with two counts of aggravated assault last November. The charges stem from an incident at a party last October.

If convicted of the disorderly conduct charge, Monaghan may have to go to trial on the aggravated assault charges.

Monaghan is a member of the football team at Wesley College in Delaware.
