Driver Killed When Car Strikes PSE&G Truck

Accident occurred at 3 a.m. on Hamburg Turnpike near Alps Road intersection.

A man whose identity has not yet been released was killed when his car struck the rear of a PSE&G utility truck about 3 a.m. Sunday, according to

Police said a 2000 Audi driven by a Haledon man plowed through orange safety cones and barrels around two PS&G trucks parked near the intersection of Hamburg Turnpike and Alps Road, striking the rear of one of the trucks.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Wayne Police Detective Capt. Jim Clarke. Two utility workers who were in elevated buckets attached to the trucks working to repair downed power lines suffered minor injuries. They were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson where they were treated and released.
