Car Accident Knocks Out Utility Pole and Closes Osceola Road

No injuries were reported.

A car collided with a utility pole on Osceola Road - near the corner of Pine Lakes Drive East - early Sunday morning, leaving residents of the area without power for an hour. Osceola Road was closed to traffic.

Wayne Police Sgt. Don Pavlak confirmed no injuries were reported and neither alcohol nor drugs played a part in the 2:53 a.m. crash.

According to Pavlak, the car had been traveling south, but still crashed into the pole. He pointed to tire marks on the road where it appeared the driver tried to brake.

By 3:30 a.m. a service worker assessed the damage and by 8 a.m. workers from Jersey Central Power & Lighting (JCP&L) were on hand to replace the utility pole. Pavlak said workers form Verizon would follow up to secure telephone wires.

Pavlak said the cause of the crash, the make of the vehicle and the identity of the driver had not been released.
