Accident Closes Exit 53 on Route 80 Eastbound

An overturned tractor trailer was removed.

An exit ramp on eastbound Route 80 in Totowa has reopened after it was closed earlier due to an overturned tractor trailer, police said Friday.

The accident closed Exit 53, delaying traffic on Routes 46, 23 and the Garden State Parkway, as drivers prepare to take to the roads for the holiday weekend.

By 2:40 p.m., the trailer was being towed and the ramp was reopened, according to a spokesperson for the New Jersey State Police.
