$5,000 Stolen from McDonald's Employee in Bank Parking Lot

More than $5,000 was stolen at gunpoint from a McDonald’s employee in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot on Route 23 South Monday at noon, Pequannock police said.

A McDonald’s employee was in the lot with the restaurant's weekend sales when he was quickly approached by an individual wearing all black, Capt. Daniel Dooley said.

The individual held a black handgun at the employee’s torso and grabbed the deposit bags, which contain slightly more than $5,000, Dooley said.

The robber got into a 1999 Buick Regal stopped behind the victim’s vehicle, which a second individual drove away, down Route 23 South into Wayne, Dooley said.

Due to an ongoing investigation, no further information can be released, Dooley said.

Detective James Manderville is conducting the investigation.
