Veronica Kelly, 69, Former Special Wayne Police Officer, Died Friday

Kelly was the first licensed female private detective in New Jersey.

Veronica “Ronnie” Kelly, 69, of Wayne died Friday.

She was a store detective at Bamburger’s and Macy’s before joining the Wayne Police Department as a special police officer.

She was the first female licensed private detective in New Jersey.

She is survived by her husband George; brothers Jimmy and William; sisters Theresa and Katerine; children Andre, Anne, Christopher, Jennifer, and Shannon; grandchildren Michael, Luke, Chelsea, Zachary, Chloe, Tony, Jessica, Shane, Samantha, and Sadie; and great grandchildren Calyx, Cameron, and Mia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905.
