Robert A. Roe, former Wayne mayor from 1956 to 1961, passed away Tuesday at the age of 90 from natural causes.
A World War II veteran, Roe was a Passaic County freeholder, was chosen at a contested Democratic Party meeting to fill a vacancy in Congress in 1969. He went on to be elected to the seat 11 times, according to northjersey.com.
