Former DePaul Catholic Teacher Dies at 85

Msgr. Stanley Schinski, 85, was a 'very gifted and loving priest.'

Msgr. Stanley Schinski, 85, of Wayne, died Oct. 31.

He lived most of his life in Wayne.

He was ordained as priest in the Roman Catholic Church in 1951. He was elevated to monsignor in 1970.

He taught at DePaul Catholic High School and was assistant priest at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Wayne. He served at the church for 41 years.

When asked what brought him to the priesthood, he would say that it came within him, his obituary states, as “an inner dream” since he was 14. People who knew him said he was a “very gifted and loving priest.”

"So shocked and sorry to hear of his passing," Barbara Kuhn wrote on Schinski's obituary page. "He was a wonderfully kind and gentle man who will be missed."

For many years, he was the moderator for the Nocturnal Adoration Society for all parishes in Wayne.

Schinski was born in Hackensack. He was a graduate of Pope Pius XII High School in Passaic and St. Mary’s College in Michigan.
