David Savastano, 66, Had a 'Wonderful Outlook on Life'

Savastano played and managed the Savvy Sluggers softball team for 25 years.

David P. Savastano, 66, of Wayne died Nov. 9.

Before retiring, he was a journman/foreman union sprinkler fitter with FDC Fire Protection Inc. of Howell.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed going to dinner with the wife Nancy and played softball every Sunday morning with his team, the Savvy Sluggers.

“David will be forever remembered for his wonderful outlook on life. To him, life was a party,” his obituary from Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home states. “He had an infectious sense of humor and he did anything to keep the peace, often saying to his wife and children ‘huddle up’ when he felt an argument development.”

He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Anthony and his wife Robin, daughter Dean Morris and her husband Michael, and four grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family at Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m.; a funeral service will immediately follow the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Savastano’s name to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, Mass 02241-7005.
