Count Your Blessings

The excitement and anticipation is building. My three “boys” are all on their way home from their respective colleges. And as my mind drifts, I can’t help but think about all the miracles and blessings in my life. And for that reason, I have decided to compile a list of the 10 things for which I am most thankful.

1.       I have been blessed with an amazing husband who has not only been my partner in marriage, but my best friend. Now that our children are away at college, our relationship has come full circle and I cherish every day and night I have with him. (well… almost!)

2.       I have been blessed with three sons who have evolved into amazing young men. My twins, Michael and Zachary were miracles in their own right, being the product of high tech conception. Jeremy, my youngest, a miracle as well since I was told it would be highly unlikely I could conceive and carry a baby to term.

3.       I have been blessed with outstanding therapists and teachers through early intervention who helped Michael and Zachary develop their communication and fine motor skills. These same people have helped make me the therapist I am today.

4.       I have been blessed with amazing friends and family who have given me hope and inspiration as I brought my child to surgery twice to cure him of a chronic disease from which he suffered since he was ten years old. You will never know how much your thoughts and prayers meant to me and for that I thank you all.

5.       I have been blessed with a team of doctors who performed a miracle and cured him of a horrid disease. He is now able to live a normal, happy life and for that I feel eternally blessed and thankful.

6.       I am blessed to be able to pay frequent visits to Washington, DC, Worcester, MA, and Boston, MA where my three boys are thriving.

7.       I am blessed with two parents in their 90’s.

8.       I am blessed with a career I truly love.

9.       I am blessed to have met and connected with so many families through my work. For some of you, I have worked with several of your children. I have become part of your family. You may not know this, but you have all helped guide me, shape me, and help me become a better therapist and person. For that I feel so, so blessed.

10.   I feel blessed to be here and to be able to write this!

Wishing  everyone of you a wonderful holiday season. Blessings to you all!
