Girl Scouts Donate Bench at New Dog Park

Cadettes from Troop 103 sold homemade dog treats to purchase a new bench for the town's new dog park on Black Oak Ridge Road.

Four Girl Scouts from Troop 103 purchased and installed a park bench at the new dog park on Black Oak Ridge Road for their Silver Award community service project recently.

The Scouts sold all-natural dog biscuits around town for months to raise money to purchase to bench.

Marc Coyle of New Dimensions Landscapers in Wayne donated and planed a tree to accompany the bench.

The Scouts used the skills they learned earning their woodworking badges to assemble the bench.

“The project not only gave the girls an opportunity to learn about surveys, research, finance, and publicity, they also learned how, by working together with others to achieve a goal, they can improve their community,” said Dianne Douthat, Troop 103 co-leader. “They hope that, as pooches play in the park, this bench where their owners will connect and communicate, and create bonds of camaraderie and friendship that will strengthen and benefit Wayne.”
